WHY WE STARTED

Pioneers Of the sport

We were the first post college wrestling club of its kind in 1973. Dan Gable's visionary leadership blazed a path for wrestling nationwide. Now, every viable/competitive program has a club – but none quite like ours!

Because of the Hawkeye Wrestling Club's influence on the wrestling community in America, in 2008, the USA Wrestling Governing Body moved to further prioritize the use of post collegiate wrestling clubs by approving Regional Training Centers (RTC) for college programs. The RTCs provide qualified youth athletes and Olympic hopefuls access to elite level coaches, high level training partners, and world class facilities in a safe, local environment.

Programs nationwide witnessed first-hand the incredible development at the Hawkeye Wrestling Club and USA Wrestling instinctively wanted to extend those opportunities to every college team by rewriting the rule book. In-turn, this has elevated American wrestlers' skills and has helped USA Wrestling bring home more international medals every year. It has also created a more competitive arms race to post-collegiate clubs...that's why support now is so vital.

Monthly & annual donations

Recruit

$10 / $120

You’re just dipping your toes in and this amount of support puts shoes on our feet! Training is foundational to what we do here at the Hawkeye Wrestling Club. Having the right tools and apparel like wrestling shoes, singlets, workout clothes, mouthpieces, medicine balls, airdyne bikes, and jump ropes makes all the difference!

All-American

$25 / $300

Being an elite-level athlete is a full-time endeavor. It's vital for our athletes to nourish their bodies with the cleanest foods, water, vitamins, and therapeutic modalities possible. This donation allows us to not only keep our athletes at their optimum, but it also helps them stay at the forefront of recovery.

Champion

$50 / $600

Everything we do is geared towards preparing our athletes for competition. Donations at this level help provide entry fees, membership dues, airfare, visa applications, rental vehicles, groceries, workout facilities, hotel accommodations, and laundry service are just some of the things that we do for our athletes to ensure they can perform at their best.

Hall of Famer

$100 / $1,200

Iron sharpens iron - people improve themselves and others through constructive interaction. The importance of surrounding oneself with individuals who challenge and inspire one to grow is paramount to the success of our team. Loyal fans giving $1,200 are helping us recruit and retain elite athletes to Iowa City - WRESTLETOWN, USA!

Legend

$250 / $3,000

Allies that give at this level allow us to pay athletes a competitive, full-time wage. This allows our team to train year-round, focusing solely on being the best wrestlers on the planet. This also helps us compile a competitive team of world class training partners and personnel.

BE A PART OF SOMETHING BIG

Our Board of Trustees

The Hawkeye Wrestling Club (HWC) is pleased to announce the formation of the HWC Board of Trustees. The Board of Trustees has been established as a fundraising board to further the HWC’s vision to be the number one Olympic and senior level wrestling program in America.

The Iowa Hawkeye wrestling team and the HWC now enjoy the country’s finest wrestling training center thanks to their passionate and generous donors. Although Iowa’s rich wrestling history is amazing, the landscape in collegiate and Olympic level wrestling is rapidly changing.

When the NCAA approved the Name, Image, and Likeness Policy (NIL) on July 1, 2021, amateur sports in America was changed forever. Today, wrestling programs and Regional Training Centers are not only competing to recruit the top athletes, but they are competing on the fundraising level as well. Moving forward, there will be no successful wrestling program that is not first successful at fundraising.
